emerge 24

emerge 24 is a collection of works by writers taking risks. Facing a future of significant disruption – environmental, cultural, and social – they choose hope.

Overcoming adversity appears in each of the works included in this anthology. And an impulse to make a home, whether that home appears int eh form of an extra-terrestrial disco-themed church nestled in a broom closet in an inhospitable Earth, or in the presence of a ceramic pig that becomes an enduring companion to a vulnerable resident of the Downtown Eastside, is ever-present.

Above all, our authors explore the inner world of grief and loneliness, as well as the joy in finding connection with others. Join us as we explore both the imaginative and sometimes all-too-real worlds that our writers inhabit.
